Tenor Des Vialettes tops

Tenor Des Vialettes held on courageously under Richard Hills to prevail by a shorthead when challenged by the mount of Olivier Peslier Frynchman in the 2200m Purebred Arabians Triple Crown R-2 (Group-3) at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club (ADEC) on Sunday.

Hills later said that he (Tenor Des Vialettes) is a very nice horse adding that the horse is still green and has a great finish especially with the head.

Richard Hills completed a quick double after riding Monte Alto to victory in the only Thoroughbreds on the card, the 2200m Emirates Championship Prep (Conditions), the final race of the night.

In the fourth race, Towaisan Al Reef, Chris Taylor up, made all the running to land the 1600m Purebred Arabians UAE Bred Emirates Colt Classic (Prestige) after beating public favourite Burkan Al Asayl by almost six lengths.

“The horse was in good shape and he picked up very nicely,” Taylor said later. The four-year-old Bibi De Carrere colt did not show the best of him on debut when finished poor fourth to Bh Fatan in a condition contest over a shorter distance at the same course.

But he ran a cracking race against all the odds on reappearance. Royston French partnered Rahawan Al Reef to victory in the opening race of the evening, a 1600m Purebred Arabians Handicap which attracted maximum field of 16 runners. In the second race, a 1400m Purebred Arabians Al Khatim Handicap, AF Qa’ed came with a strong run against the rails in the hands and heels of Wayne Smith to deny the mount of Richard Hills, Mashaarref on the line.

MH Wafi has just put his head in front under Patrick Dobbs to win the 1400m Purebred Arabians Rated Conditions from fast finishing Sarbella in an exciting finish near post. The race is sponsored by Wathba Stud Farm and restricted to private owners.
