The highly rated seven-year-old son of Kingmambo made a welcome return to the track from which he started his UAE campaign three years ago when he won a handicap contest for the connections. And since then, Snaafy was sent to Nad Al Sheba where he prevailed over Honor Devil in the Burj Nahar Gr-3 en route to a dream line-up in the Dubai World Cup Group-1, but he finished poor seventh to Well Armed. Thereafter, he was shifted to the turf and after winning a small contest, Snaafy was sent to the Dubai Duty Free Gr-1 but without much success.

Richard Hills partnered Serhaal to a comfortable victory in the 1200m Thoroughbreds Maiden opening race on the card.

The four-year-old gelded son of Green Desert raced from the centre of the track before the Englishman shaked the reins up the hill and Serhaal stormed homed easily to prevail by nearly five lengths on the line. Al Razi chased the winner home under Ted Durcan and behind them came the mount of Carlos Sandoval, Spice Souk. Submariner came just on time in the hands and heels of Carlos Sandoval to sink Kala Kanta and Fares and prevail by a neck in the 1800m handicap second race of the afternoon.

The brilliant five-year-old gelded son of former champion Singspiel broke from stall 15 on the outside and raced wide when the pack turned for home, but he made a lot of ground to pip front-runners close home.

Meanwhile, top Irish jockey William Supple sustained an unfortunate fall with over 400 metres from home when Singing Point stumbled, but the rider was safely rescued. However, he was replaced by Roary Cleary in the subsequent race before he returned to the saddle in the fourth race. The horse has reportedly being laid to rest.

Tahdeer got up under Kieren Fallon to win the 1400m Thoroughbreds Handicap fourth race close home. The nine-year-old veteran son of Bachir raced keenly from the centre of the track and responded very strongly when challenged by He’sminenotyours and UAE debutant Golden Shaheen to lead by less than two lengths in the concluding stages of the race. Golden Shaheen, under Xavier Ziani, took second on the line and He’sminenotyours, ridden by Richard Mullen, was a neck behind in third.

Patrick Dobbs rode Lord Ego to glory in the 1400m Thoroughbreds handicap fifth race ahead of the mount of Richard Hills Aqmaar as the UAE apprentice Saeed Al Mazrooei finished third aboard Game Stalker.

Kieren Fallon brought Mannjal home in the 1200m Thoroughbreds Handicap, the final race of the afternoon to make it a double delight for the connections.
