“I hope we can see in the near future professional UAE lady jockeys riding besides Ahmed Ajtebi and Saeed Al Marzouqi, why not?

“Introducing Fatma Al Marri and Shattra Al Hajjaj as the first UAE lady jockeys to ride in the Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Fegentri Cup later next week at the Duindigt Racecourse in the Netherlands reflects the success of the Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival,” she said.

“We are in fact obliged to Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, for this giant step achieved by the UAE General Women’s Union under her wise and able leadership,” she said.

Al-Jenibi, a first UAE diplomat in UK, used to ride for fun in the early days of her life in Al Ain city, where she was born.

“I was a member of a small contingent used to exercise at the Ain Intercontinental Hotel training school.

“As an Arab woman, I have always been linked to this noble creature. It’s part of our history, culture, heritage, feelings and emotions.

“As you may know, Arab poetry compares beautiful women to mares and fillies. The horse is part of our life. In the past, horses were often brought inside the family tent for shelter and protection from theft. Our fathers and grandfathers have lived side by side with their horses. The nomadic Bedouin who owns a strong and quick horse rules the world,” Al-Henibi noted.

“Finally, I would like to thank our wise leadership for promoting the Arabian horse around the world to follow in the footsteps of late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who staged this campaign a long time ago,” she concluded.
