A record 36,241 spectators came through the turnstiles and the champions didn’t disappoint, coming up with a brilliant display to go 4-0 up at half-time. If only anything, their performance took a dip in the second half which allowed Dubai FC to claw back. Al Jazira went ahead off the first chance they had in the very fourth minute of the game off a sheer piece of brilliance from their Brazilian forward Ricardo Oliveira.

Delgado set it up for Oliveira who made way and space before firing a scorcher past the diving Dubai FC goalkeeper and captain Jamal Abdallah Ali. Oliveira could have added a second four minutes later but he failed to connect after Delgado had made his way past a defender from the left and fired in a cross.

Then later in the 13th minute, Oliveira’s dangerous freekick was punched away by goalkeeper Jamal Abdallah Ali.

Al Jazira did get the second in the 22nd minute through Brazilian Bare after a beauty of a cross from their long-serving player Saleh Obaid.

Obaid chipped in a cross from the left and Bare made no mistake with an inch perfect header.

Al Jazira added a third in the 29th minute through Khalid Sabeel. Bare sent in a cross from the middle, Sabeel darted in and fired it in from close range.

They almost got a fourth in the 36th minute but Oliveira muffed up an easy chance. Captain Ibrahim Diaky charged in and sent a neat cross to Oliveira, who drew the goalkeeper Jamal Abdallah Ali out.

But his shot went wide of the post. Al Jazira scored the fourth with a minute left for half-time through a freekick. Saleh Obaid fired a superb freekick in and Juma Abdulla headed it home.

Dubai FC pulled one back after the break through substitute Ali Hassan who scored from close range in the 64th minute.
