Khalid Al Sheikh, Deputy Director-General of the DHA, said land levelling and preliminary construction work has already been completed.

The Dh750-million hospital is set to redefine paediatric care in the UAE and the wider region.

“We started the second phase of the construction in October 2011, which is being undertaken by Al Futtaim Carillion, and the hospital is on track to be completed in 710 calendar days and will be open in 2013,” he said.

Once completed, Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital will be the first of its kind facility in the region to offer super-speciality and multi-spectrum paediatric care.

The 200-bed hospital, sprawling over 100,000 sq m, will provide the entire range of children’s healthcare services including oncology, nephrology, cardiac and neo-natal care, among others.

It will have 40 ICUs, six dialysis facilities, 20 healing centres, 12 training rooms, eight operating theatres, 30 clinical and non-clinical departments, over 3,750 biomedical equipment and fixtures, and a multipurpose activities room for children, among others.

Once constructed, the hospital will provide world-class medical services for children, right here in Dubai, thereby adding to the convenience of parents, who are sometimes forced to travel abroad to seek critical care for their kids.
