Mariam started the centre in 2005 when she learnt that her son Ahmed is autistic. Encouraged and supported by her husband Saeed Trais Al Mazrouei and other family members, she founded the non-profit centre to cater for children with autism, providing them with proper care and preparing them to integrate into the society.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the centre’s different sections while being briefed about services offered to the 42 students there, including 20 who have already been integrated into mainstream schools..

Sheikh Mohammed stopped at the sections for functional therapy, sports, computer and vocational training. He also visited the educational classes and reviewed curricula and special programmes offere3d there.

Sheikh Mohammed commended the services offered by the centre to the community members and lauded the initiative of Saeed Al Mazrouei and his wife in setting up this specialised centre.

Mariam Al Mazrouei thanked Sheikh Mohammed for the visit which, she said, reflected the leadership’s keenness to attend to the people with special needs in general and people with autism in particular.
