The Argentinian's beauty got many looking for the 'fountain of youth': She can't be that old, Netizens say
No casualties were reported in the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known and investigations are going on, an official of Ajman Police said.
The official said that all the carpets, paper cartons, and stocks of pre-fabricated furniture kept in the warehouse were completely destroyed.
The fire broke out at 9am when the workers had not yet started the day. Police and Civil Defence units were informed by passers-by who saw thick plumes of smoke enveloping the skies soon after the fire erupted at the warehouse. The smoke, which could be seen from Sharjah, created a dusty haze in Ajman city.
Ajman Civil Defence and police units rushed to the site immediately after being alerted and started evacuating the surrounding areas.
It took over two and a half hours to put out the fire and preventing it from spreading to other warehouses, workshops and outlets in the vicinity. The operation was supervised by Brigadier Salih Al Matrouqshi, director of Ajman Civil Defence. Firefighting units from Sharjah and Dubai also joined the operation later and helped in containing the fire.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Brig Al Matroushi said that safety and fire-protection measures were not in place at the warehouse. “Most of the warehouses and companies in the industrial area do not comply with the prescribed fire safety norms,” he noted.
When Khaleej Times contacted a source from the company that owns the warehouse, he said: “We cannot say anything about the estimated losses as yet. We guess a short circuit may have caused the fire.”
