UAE wants Yemen to grow, prosper: Shaikh Khalifa

The UAE is interested in seeing Yemen enter a new stage of growth and prosperity backed with cohesion among all its people, the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said on Sunday.

In a meeting with visiting Yemeni President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi at Al Dhiyafah Palace in Abu Dhabi, Shaikh Khalifa said that the government and people of the UAE back the implementation of reconciliation among all Yemeni parties in order to enjoy peace, stability and growth which contributes to the renaissance of Yemen.

Shaikh Khalifa stressed the UAE’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Yemen, at the political and economic levels in particular, as well as in providing all kinds of support to the Yemeni people to contribute to promoting peace and security throughout their country. He also hailed Yemen’s strategic role in establishing regional peace and stability.

Shaikh Khalifa was briefed by the Yemeni President on the steps and measures recently taken by Yemen to implement the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative to eventually establish and reinforce its political stability.

The Yemeni President expressed gladness at visiting the UAE and meeting Shaikh Khalifa. He acknowledged the support extended to his country by the UAE under the leadership of President Shaikh Khalifa. He also expressed appreciation of the UAE’s noble initiatives for Yemen, at this critical turn in the history of the country, noting that they reflect the interest of its government and the leadership in establishing peace and stability in the region.

President Mansour Hadi also thanked Shaikh Khalifa for the UAE’s humanitarian and development aid to the Yemeni people which recently went through difficult conditions. General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, other Shaikhs and senior officials were present at the meeting.
