The two sides discussed ways to boost cooperation and existing coordination between the ministries of Interior in the UAE and Japan, especially in the areas of security and anti narcotics.
Al Shafar lauded the friendship ties between the two countries, stressing keenness of the UAE on enhancing the relations with the agency.
The Japanese official also met the Director General of the Anti Narcotics Department at the ministry, Col. Saeed Al Suwaidi. They discussed a number of issues, notably, exchange of expertise in the area of drugs.
Earlier the anti narcotics authorities in the UAE in cooperation with their Japanese counterparts, foiled the smuggle of drugs weighing 12kg. The Japanese authorities welcomed the cooperation between the two countries in this respect.
In the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides exchanged the shields and memento gifts.
