Addressing the winners of the second edition of the ‘Emirates Government Excellence Award’ at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, Shaikh Mohammed said the best way to ensure sustained performance excellence is by enhancing awareness about excellence in government, encouraging continuous learning, improving government services, and transferring and exchanging knowledge between government organisations and other entities abroad.
The award is part of the ‘Shaikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme’. Describing the important role of ‘Shaikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme’ in motivating excellence in the federal government, Shaikh Mohammed said the programme is based on scientific methodologies and global best practices.
Shaikh Mohammed advised to add a new category named ‘The Pride of the UAE’ to the programme and said it should be devoted to UAE citizens who undertake exemplary work for the country and become role models for the young generation. Shaikh Mohammed honoured the first winners of ‘The Pride of the UAE’ during the event.
He said that despite its recent inception, the excellence award has inspired federal government staff to proactively take responsibilities and drive a culture of excellence and competitive attitude to serve the country better and fulfill the aspirations of its citizens.
Shaikh Mohammed stressed the importance of the award in achieving excellence in the performance of the government sector and its human resources, which establishes a culture of innovation and loyalty. By developing distinctive practices and successful national models, the awards enrich the experience of government authorities and make them a role model across all forums, which enhance the prestige of UAE underlining its role regionally and globally.
He urged federal government staff to adopt excellence practices as part of a sustained approach to achieve the prime objective of achieving a Government of Excellence. This will enable the government sector to achieve all-round progress and improve services, which is a priority in the government’s effort to build a bright future for the UAE.
Shaikh Mohammed also told all government entities to regard winning the award as a challenge rather than as an achievement, reminding them that the development of the government sector determines the UAE’s development. He urged the staff and entities who could not make it as winners this time to double their efforts and dedication for the next editions of the award.
