The report closely analyzes various aspects of environment as well as diagnoses challenges so as to support policy makers in framing steps to pursue sustainable policies, said Hamdan Al Shaer, Head of the Environment Department, DM.
Last year department had published a report on the same topic and the new includes analysis of the year 2011.
‘Report is mainly intended to present before concerned authorities to help them frame policies and making laws and regulations accordingly’, said Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General , Dubai Municipality while he released the report.
The report includes facts and figures regarding water ,air and soil of Dubai as well as close analysis of waste management, sewage, coastal zones and waterways ,biodiversity, marine environment and climate of the region.
The report also points to the possible threats to the environment emerging with the advancement in various fields like urban planning, tourism, industrial development, increase in the number of vehicles, pollution and the like.
Various efforts Dubai Municipality has rendered to make Dubai environment sustainable is also detailed in the report.
Hamdan Shaer said the report is made in co operation with a various other departments and is put before decision making bodies for further consultation.
