Al Israa Wal Miraaj holiday on June 17

Public and private sector institutions will be given a paid holiday on June 17 to mark Al Israa Wal Miraaj, the ascension of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) .

Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and Board Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said in a circular on Monday: ‘Al Israa Wal Miraaj’ holiday for workers in the federal ministries and bodies will be on Sunday, 27 Rajab 1433 AH corresponding to June 17.

This is in accordance with the Article No.100 of the Cabinet Resolution No. 13 of 2012 on the Regulations of the law of human resources in the federal government.

On this occasion, Al Qattami greeted the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, wishing them good health and prosperity. He also greeted people of the UAE and the Arab and Islamic countries on this occasion.

In a separate statement, Ministry of Labour announced that Sunday, June 17, will be a paid holiday for the private sector companies and establishments.

A decision to this effect has been issued by Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Labour, on Monday in accordance with provisions of Article No. 74 of the federal statute No 8 for the year 1980.
