Special judicial units have been set up to look into crimes committed against domestic workers, it was announced on Wednesday. Special public prosecutors and judicial departments have been established at every Court of First Instance to handle such cases in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, has issued a resolution to this effect.
Yousef Saeed Al Abri, acting undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said the resolution aims at delivering verdicts in such cases as fast as possible.
The resolution comes in the wake of a federal law issued by the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in September last year. The law bans any kind of harassment of workers, forced labour or human trafficking and grants them the right to keep their official documents.
