Badr Al Mutawa put Kuwait ahead right on the first minute of the first half and Hawar Mulla made it 1-1 five minutes later.

Alaa Abdul Zahra scored the second goal for Iraq in the 14th minute to take a 2-1 lead by the end of first half.

Fahad Salem Al Enazi levelled the score in the 58th minute to force an extra-time which has also ended in a 2-2 stalemate and the two teams had to proceed to the penalty shoot-out for a tie-break.

The Kuwaitis made no mistake from the spot while Qusai Muneer missed for Iraq.

The Kuwaitis are apparently heading for their 10th Gulf title and they will take on the winners of the late night match featuring UAE and Saudi Arabia at the same venue.
