Marcelinho scored for Al Sharjah off a penalty in the 57th minute.
Jazira started well with Mousa putting them ahead off a Tony corner in the sixth minute. They could have added another in the 12th minute but Tony’s bicycle kick just missed the goal.
Sharjah did not have much space to play with but Marcelinho came up with a try in the 26th minute. But his long ranger just missed the post.
Sharjah earned a penalty in the 57th minute after Salah Basheer fouled Mohammed Suroor. Marcelinho made no mistake with the penalty.
Argentine attacking midfielder Matias Emilio Delgado, started on the bench but was called in, in the 70th minute.
The game seemed to heading for a draw but Sharjah’s Musa Hatab fouled substitute Abdulla Qasem in the 90th minute. Referee Farid Ali pointed to the spot and Ibrahim Diaky scored the penalty.
In the other game of the night at the Bani Yas Stadium, Bani Yas blanked Al Dhafra 2-0. Andre Senghor scored in the 76th minute and Fouzi Basheer added the second in the 87th minute.
Meanwhile, Adenor Leonardo Bocchi, better known as ‘Tite,’ will replace Laszlo Boloni at Al Wahda, the club said. Boloni was sacked by defending champions Al Wahda after a string of poor results.
Tite recently coached Brazilian club Internacional. In the UAE, Tite previously coached Al Ain.
