Bolton routs Newcastle 5-1 in Premier League

BOLTON, England — Johan Elmander and Kevin Davies scored two goals each Saturday to help give Bolton a 5-1 win over Newcastle to provisionally climb to fourth place in the Premier League.

Davies scored the first and last goals from the penalty spot and Elmander added two second-half goals after Chung-yong Lee had also netted for Bolton before the break.

Adam Carroll pulled one back for in the 52nd for Newcastle, which finished with 10 men after Fabricio Coloccini was sent off in the 76th.

The win gives Bolton 22 points and puts it ahead of Manchester City on goal difference. However, City can reclaim fourth place when it plays Fulham on Sunday.
