Axiom win title

DUBAI - Axiom overcame Royal Thai Air Force 3-2 via the penatly shootout to win the RBSC Annual Hockey Festival 2010 at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club in Thailand.

Demonstrating why they are the number one team in the UAE, Axiom dished out a superb fare to win the 40-team two-day event, which attracted teams from India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Thailand. Axiom played six group games, winning 5 and drawing one. In the group games, Axiom scored 19 goals without conceding a single goal.

In the quarter-finals, Axiom faced a star-studded Multan Pakistan side and won 2-1 to set up a semi-final clash against Shaheen Club from Hong Kong. Axiom scored the solitary goal win as Mohd Javed’s strike put them in the final.

After the teams were tied at 2-2 in the penalty shoot-out in the final, former captain Abid’s skillful stroke gave Axiom the title.
