Arrangement for football friendlies reviewed

DUBAI — The organising committee of the international friendlies featuring Brazil against Iran and the UAE national team against Chile met at the Zayed Sports City Stadium on Monday to discuss the final arrangements for the two crucial games.

The meeting was attended by Nasser Al Yamahy, head of the committee, his deputy Khaled Al Muhairbi and the general coordinator Ahmed Thani Al Dosary along with other representatives.

According to officials, the meeting reviewed the arrangements which have been taken to ensure the success of the events, including the teams’ reception and other issues on the agenda.

It has been decided that the meeting of the technical committee for the Brazil-Iran encounter will be held on Wednesday at 10am while the meeting for the UAE-Chile clash is scheduled the same day at 12noon and at the same venue.

The Brazilian team will train at 7pm on Wednesday at the match stadium and Iranians will train at the training facility on Tuesday morning and night before the team shifts its operations to the main venue on Wednesday at 9pm.

The 37-member strong squad of the Iranian national team touched down on Monday at the Dubai International Airport.

The 52-member delegation of the Samba Boys is expected to arrive via the Abu Dhabi International Airport on Tuesday.

Brazil’s FA president will arrive on Thursday via the Dubai International Airport.

While the Iran-Brazil game is scheduled on Thursday at the Zayed Sports City Stadium at 9pm, the UAE-Chile match is slated for Saturday at the Zayed Sports City Stadium at 8.30pm.

It has been decided that external entry gates 5-6-16-18-12-23 will be open for the public, Brazil fans (A) will enter from internal gates from 28 to 53 while Iranian fans (B) to enter from internal gates from 4 to 26.

VIP tickets have been priced at Dh350, Grand Stand First Class at Dh130 and Public Stand Second Class at Dh70.

Khalfan Al Zaabi and Hassan Mohammed Abdullah will be in charge of the Brazilian team while Omer Hasan bin Hanifa has been given the responsibility of the Chile team.

Farid Ali will be the referee for the Brazi-Iran tie, Saleh Al Marzouqi and Ahmed Al Shamsi the assistant referees and Ammar Al Juniabi the fourth referee.

For the encounter between the UAE and Chile, Jalal Al Ghamdi has been named the referee. Abdul Aziz Mohammed Al Asmari and Badr Ali Al Shamrani have been named assistant referees and Yaqoub Qassim the fourth referee.
