Al Jazira players mingle with fans

ABU DHABI - Al Jazira’s Argentinean midfielder Matias Delagado and team-mate Tariq Ahmed were at the beach on Thursday afternoon for a kick around with local fans and holidaymakers, as the Pro League leaders prepare for the huge derby on Sunday against Al Ain at the Mohammed Bin Zayed stadium.

The two players took part in beach fun when they were out and about in Abu Dhabi distributing free tickets and driving the Nissan Altima sports car one lucky fan will win at the match.

One young supporter will also leave the stadium Dhs10,000 better off, courtesy of a Barclays bank account prize draw.

As the anticipation grows for the game against rivals Al Ain, Delagado stressed the importance of players being able to get out and spend time with the growing fanbase in Abu Dhabi. “It’s great for us to get out and into the community like this,” he said.

“These are our supporters and the lifeblood of the club. As a player I really enjoy being around the fans and I know how important it is for us to connect with them. We will need all their support on Sunday.

“I am new to the club this season but everyone has told me just how important the Al Ain game is. We are rivals going back many years and we anticipate a tough match, full of passion and skill,” Delagado added.
