Al Ain Education Zone triumph

DUBAI - Al Ain Educational Zone were crowned champions at the Al Ain Club Championship for Governmental Institutions after defeating Al Ain Club Management 6-5 via the tiebreaker in the final.

The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

Jamal Al Hassani, adjudged the best player at the championship for being the top scorer, put Al Ain Educational Zone into the lead by scoring twice — in 5^th and 22^nd minute. Ahmed Waleed Ayoub reduced the margin for Al Ain Club Management in the 30^th minute before Ahmed Balsha restored parity.

The players were awarded gold medals by the chief guest Shaikh Zayed bin Tahnoun bin Mohamed Al Nahyan. Dr Khaled Mohamed Abdulla, CEO of Al Ain Club, was also present.

Earlier, Educational Zone qualified for the final after edging past Jordan Community Team 2-1. Jordan scored the first goal through Ahmed Saleh in the 23^rd minute. Mehdar Hussain restored parity for Educational Zone in the 47^th minute. Educational Zone scored the match-winner in the extra time as Faras Ahmed beat the goalkeeper in 63^rd minute. Club Management beat Al Ain Fans Society 1-0 on a Ahmed Ayoub goal in the 55^th minute to move into the final.
