Tonight a lucky few will be transported into a night of fantastical fashion, thanks to Swarovski Sparkling Couture Exhibition at Madinat Jumeriah.

A first-of-its-kind event, Swarovski, the global leader in cut crystal and fashion jewellery, has invited 40 couture designers from across the Middle East and South Asia to be a part of this exposition.

Of course, all the designers have one thing in common: a love of Swarovski crystals. The show highlights the versatility of crystal. There is Singapore's Giles whose delicate use of the crystal on a grey ensemble with red rose appliqué demonstrates the more romantic side of the crystals, while UAE's Dar Sara's decadent crystal mesh dress spectacularly shows off the opulence only crystals can create. The exhibition covers modest wear, bridal wear, ethnic wear, as well as jewellery and accessories.

What really makes this show exceptional are the elegantly extravagant surroundings. Walk into the Madinat's ballroom and you cannot help but feel like a modern-day princess. With designers from Thailand, Australia, India, Pakistan and the region participating this show gives a real feel of international style.

The fact that Swarovski chose Dubai as host city reinforces the fact that Dubai is becoming an international fashion capital.

Tonight over 500 VIPs connected to the world of fashion will view the show, which really could rival any exhibition held at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art or London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
