The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) organised a training programme for around 120 Emirati students who will work for almost one month in the administrative department of various hospitals, health clinics and administration offices of the DHA to gain practical work experience.
The training programme - inaugurated on Sunday by Dr Jamila Al Shaikh, Director of Medical Education - is organised by the Medical Education Department and is for Grade 10 students and above.
Al Shaikh said that the initiative aims to enhance the skills of the students who will soon step into the professional world.
"The summer training programme presents an opportunity for students to gain valuable workplace experience. During the course of the training programme, students will be given practical training experience.
"The Medical Education Department at the DHA will also provide trainees with workshops and seminars which are designed to help them cope with professional challenges once they enter the job market," she said. According to her, "Such programmes are essential for students to get a head-start in terms of their career because practical work experience helps them understand what the requirements of a job are and how they can fulfil them effectively."
