The 10 participating Emiratis are undergraduate engineering and science students from both national and international universities, including the UAE University, Higher Colleges of Technology, the University of Sharjah, the American University of Sharjah, as well as Ohio State University and Texas A&M.

The Ektashif programme ran for 12 days and it covered presentations on laser technologies, biomass and clean energy such as solar. “The Ektashif programme, which means ‘explore’, is a simple and comprehensive introduction to the Master’s programmes that Masdar Institute offers, and we hope it adequately stirred the interests of the participants. We foresee some of the students choosing Masdar for higher studies,” said Dr Fred Moavenzadeh, president of Masdar Institute.
