The amazing world of science and its power to change the boundaries of human thinking was brought to light by 15 inspirational speakers at a new science festival in Dubai — SciFest. Presented mostly by student speakers, the festival reflected on the works of top scientists and thought-leaders.
Powerful five-minute talks presented at the Meydan IMAX brought together some of the best student presenters in Dubai.
Yolany Aher, a student of Winchester School Dubai, spoke on the exponential growth of technology at the festival’s opening last week. “Our technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate. We are in the midst of an explosion of technology. We will transcend the limitations of our biology and begin to rethink ideologies,” said the student.
The ‘critical wonder serious awe’ conference brought together several TEDx speakers from Dubai to present talks on how technology is changing the world.
The four-day event also hosted workshops and movie screenings to promote science education and create an interest in young minds.
A special astronomy art showcase and a science photography exhibition also expressed student creativity.
Entry to the Dubai Science Festival was free and the event was held at Meydan Theatre from February 26 to March 1.
