The school website project, which is being carried out in phases, aims to enhance communication between schools and external stakeholders, including parents and those involved in the education sector.

Some of the schools had already gone live in what was called Phase 1, while Phase 2 will include development of websites for 50 schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia regions.

The third phase will cover the remaining schools across the emirate.

“The first group of school websites was launched together with the new Adec website. During the three phases, content and school activities, achievements and information are entered into websites. In the future, interactive communication will be allowed between teachers and parents via the school websites,” said Hanan Al Sahlawi, Adec’s Strategic Communication and Media manager.

The school website will also include an events calendar, weekly class schedule, school news, and a knowledge centre offering advice, information and relevant links.

Fatima Awad, Arabic head of faculty at Al Shamkhah KG, Abu Dhabi, said the website is an effective communication tool between schools and parents, “particularly during student registration process. Parents are able now to identify which school they should enrol their children in”.

“We hope that these websites will be more interactive in order to help achieve educational goals and improve learning outcomes,” Ahmed Al Dulaimi, ICT teacher at Al Gharbia School, stated.
