Four other Bangladeshis and an Omani were charged in the Court of First Instance with hiding, sheltering and helping M.I. evade justice and flee the country in a cab driven by one of them.

According to prosecution records, M.I. planned the murder in advance and caught the victim by surprise as he was lying on his bed in his room. He stabbed him deeply four times and left the room after locking it. The forensic doctor said that the victim received four deep stab wounds that cut through his abdomen and chest reaching the heart, lungs and kidney causing a severe internal bleeding.

The body was lying for a few hours before it was found and the death happened on the same day.

A police lieutenant said that the incident dated back to June last year when a murder was reported at the accommodations of a contracting company in Al Quoz Industrial Area.

The police came to know that M.I. and the victim had disagreements after M.I. had been allegedly robbed of some cash. He was also reported absconding from work after the murder.

The police received information that he fled to Sharjah and then to Al Ain. He was later known to have infiltrated into Oman with the help of some people. In coordination with the Omani authorities, M.I. had been brought back to the UAE.

When interrogated, M.I. admitted that he had stabbed the victim many times following a brawl and claimed he did not mean to kill him.— mary@khaleejtimes.com
