The woman will be deported after serving her sentence.

Earlier, she burst into tears in the court firmly denying the charge.

The defendant, who worked as a receptionist for an artworks company, is accused of premeditatedly murdering a compatriot after luring him to her room in a shared villa in Rashidiyah in September last year. She and her accomplice are also believed to have stolen the victim’s mobile phones.

Khaleej TimesShe earlier said in the court that if she were guilty, she would not have come back to the UAE.

The murder motive is said to be an old grudge as the victim had filed police complaints against her alleging that she issued him dud cheques.

A police captain told the court that the incident was reported in September last year by the Indian man who leased a room to the defendant. “Through investigation, we learnt that she had fled the UAE one day before the murder was discovered. It was also learnt that there were money disputes between the defendant and the victim. The latter had filed two bounced cheque complaints against her at the Naif police station,” the officer told the court. He said the leads pointed to the involvement of another man, a Pakistani trader, who helped her in the crime. “He entered and exited the country on the same day. A police alert was issued to arrest them. She was arrested when she came back,” he said.

It was the leasing agent who found the victim’s body lying in a pool of blood in the room. It had many stab wounds.

The leasing agent said during investigation that the defendant called him on his mobile number to meet her at Terminal 2 of the Dubai International Airport for an urgent matter. She borrowed Dh300 from him and also used his mobile phone claiming hers was without credit.

When she did not show up later to collect the room’s keys and pay the rent, the agent checked his mobile phone to call her but found that her number was erased.

He got suspicious. He checked her room the following day and found the body.

The police learnt that the defendant had left the country on the same day she committed the crime with her accomplice.

They also found that she had entered the country about 12 days earlier and that she had been summoned to the Naif police station over bounced cheques complaints filed by the victim.
