US girl killed in burnt-out car
A 19-year-old US girl was charred to death on Saturday afternoon when the car she was driving crashed into a pavement near Al Reem Island Bridge in Abu Dhabi and caught fire.
Captain Abdullah Hamad Al Tamimi, Head of the Customer Services and PR Division at the Abu Dhabi General Directorate of Civil Defence, stated that the police were reported about the incident at 3.30pm.
Firefighters, ambulance and police patrols rushed to the site, but unfortunately the woman was found dead inside the car.
Capt. Al Tamimi said the car had abruptly swerved and smashed against the sidewalk, close to Al Reem Island Bridge, after which it went up in flames. Investigation is ongoing to recognise the reasons behind the accident.
