A police major told the investigating prosecutor that he was heading towards Al Qusais police station with another lieutenant when he spotted the defendant’s car at a junction. It was about 1am.
“The car was parked on the right lane at the traffic lights. We checked on them and found them sleeping. They did not look normal. We talked to them and their speech was not normal, either,” the major testified.
The case dates back to July.
The pair, both Emirati employees, aged 36 and 25, have been both charged with using narcotics and drugs. The 36-year-old was searched and 31 pills of different types of narcotics were seized from him including Tramadol. He also faced a charge of driving under the influence of drugs and not able to control the vehicle.
The major said the 25-year-old accused had marks of shots on his arm. The police officers held the pair until they got a prosecution warrant of search and arrest. Different pills and three unused vials of injections were found in their car.
The Criminal Lab report said that both defendants’ urine sample tested positive for drugs.
