Two smuggle 1kg heroin in laptops

The General Department of Anti-Narcotics of the Dubai Police, have arrested two Asian suspects who allegedly smuggled 1.076kg of heroin in their laptops.

An officer of the department said the duo, identified as A.H.B (39) and M.A.K (36), was arrested on September 20 from Al Satwa area. The police had laid a trap after the undercover police came to know that they were planning sell the drugs in the area.

The undercover officer made contact with A.H.B. who agreed to meet the former with a sample of heroin after fetching it from his apartment in Bur Dubai where he was staying with the other suspect. The police placed them under surveillance and, after obtaining legal permission from the Public Prosecution raided the apartment and arrested the suspects.

During interrogation, the suspects said they had entered the country on visit visas.

The second suspect, M.A.K, confessed that they hid the heroin in a laptop, which was found in their possession. When the police confronted A.H.B with his accomplice’s confession, the former admitted that he hid 546 grams of heroin behind the computer screen, while M.A.K confessed to have hidden 530 grams of the narcotic in his laptop. The two suspects confessed they had bought the drugs from a drug dealer in Pakistan, paying him partly in cash and promising him to pay the remaining amount after selling the heroin in the UAE.

The officer revealed that the two suspects said they had entered the UAE many times earlier but had never smuggled in drugs, although they had smuggled and sold drugs in other countries. The officer urged the community members to inform the police about any drug-related leads through the police toll-free number 800-4004000.
