Ten held for illegal sale of phone credit

The Sharjah Police on Wednesday arrested ten Bangladeshis for selling phone credit (raseed) illegally, to people walking in the streets.

The arrest is part of the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) plan for the year 2013 to curb the illegal activity that disturbs and annoys the residents and also affects the security in the emirate.Col. Jihad Sahoh, Director of Search and Investigation department at the Sharjah Police, told Khaleej Times that the inspections will continue until they put to an end such illegal activities in the public areas and streets of the emirate. He said that most of those who were arrested are infiltrators, absconders or illegals who are not willing to use the amnesty to depart the country. The police said the organised crime section of the Sharjah Police managed to arrest these illegals while standing in corners of a street, selling the raseed without licence or permission from Etisalat.

Col. Sahoh instructed to take legal action against those who were recently arrested by the police patrols. The police will continue their efforts to curb such crimes caused by these illegal workers who carry out illegal activities of various kinds that lead of violence crime and instability. He urged public to cooperate with the police by informing about any illegal activities they encounter by calling 999 or najeed at 5632222 or send an SMS at 7999.
