The Arab man has been handed down four months in jail followed by deportation by the Abu Dhabi Misdemeanors Court on the charge of swindling and fraud.

The Abu Dhabi Police received information that the accused was duping people by pretending that he had superstitious powers that could help solve their problems such as marital disputes.

The police launched a sting operation by deploying a woman sleuth who called the accused and informed him that she had been enduring some domestic disputes with her husband, which she could no longer withstand.

The sorcerer claimed that he could put an end to her problems, but told her it would cost her Dh75,000 as he had to buy materials from an adjacent country to use in his work.

The man was apprehended red-handed while he was collecting the cash from the woman. He was also caught handing the woman what he claimed were talismans, that could have a magical effect on her husband and make him obey her.
