A police spokesman said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) started a campaign after gathering information that a lot of illegal practices were taking place in such establishments.
Police first raided one of the most sought-after massage parlours on Tuesday and arrested eight people, including six women. The men, identified as Guenaell S and Russell D, were from Bangladesh and owned the parlour. They had employed the girls to work in what would have been a male massage parlour.
A client had to pay Dh150 to get a massage for an hour and three women, identified as Benaabas S, Chavanlak K and Sariya W, were doing this. During the session, the women would also propose a more intimate ‘special’ act to the clients for an additional Dh100.
Once a client accepted the offer, another group of three women, identified as Sangeerat S, Amrtoung Sh and Benaabas Q, would do this act. All women were from Thailand.
In a second sting operation on Wednesday, the police arrested four women from another massage parlour, exclusively for men, also performing such obscene massage at a price of Dh150. Police did not name the women arrested in the second case.
A police spokesman said that the sleuths have started a comprehensive campaign to stop similar bad practices at all massage centres as these are against the country’s religion and culture. He also appealed to the general public to notify the police and provide useful information on any such parlours.
