“The parent and his lawyer have already opened the file for the case here and hearing would be on May 15,” an official from the Sharjah Public Prosecution said.

According to the parent, the incident happened about a week ago when his son returned home and told his mother that he had been assaulted by two of his schoolmates while playing in the school field. “His mother told me about the incident and I immediately went to the school to complain. But the school administrators just wanted to cover it up,” the father said.

He said that his son was also afraid to return to the school, fearing that the two children would take revenge on him.

“I have four children in that school and pay more than Dh100,000 as their fees. How can they do that to my child and try to cover it up,” the father said. Ali Musabaha, the legal consultant who is handling the case on the parents’ side said the child had approached the school principal after the incident and before telling his parents, but the principal had turned him away. The school principal had also wrongly accused the parent of going to the school and attacking the children who allegedly assaulted his son. The school administrators were not available for comment.
