Prisoner accused of molesting cell mate

An inmate who allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted his cell-mate, has been referred by the Public Prosecution to Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance, on the charge of sodomy.

The 29-year-old Asian victim, S. M. R., said that his cell mate in Dubai Central Prison S. A. A., also 29, offered him a cup of coffee.

When he sipped it, he felt a strange taste and asked the defendant about it.

The latter told him that it was of good quality. After drinking the coffee, the victim felt exhausted and dozed off, something he said never happened to him before.

“When I was half asleep, he sexually abused me. I might have fallen unconscious after that,” the victim said.

He woke up next day at noon and was very tired. He said he went to the toilet and felt uncomfortable.

He immediately reported the matter to the warden, who asked the defendant whether he had sexually assaulted his cell mate. The defendant confessed to have drugged the victim after adding a sedative to the coffee before he sodomised him.

After hearing him saying that to the jail warden, the victim assaulted the defendant and there was a fight between them.

Other inmates beat up the defendant and a tense situation prevailed. Police officers and prison management interfered to stop the brawl. Investigation on the fight is on.
