A newborn, abandoned on the terrace of an empty house in scorching heat, miraculously survived the conditions, according to police sources.
The baby was found by a person living next to the house in Sharjah's Al Ramallah area. On hearing a baby crying from somewhere nearby, the man decided to find the source. He found the baby boy on the terrace, crying and sweating a lot under the fiery sun. The newborn was wrapped in pieces of cloth and was placed inside a small cardboard box.
The police were informed about the baby and a team of forensic, crime department, patrol.
Newborn abandoned on a terrace in Sharjah ambulance officials rushed to the scene. By that time the baby had fainted due to heat exhaustion.
The police rushed the newborn to Al Qasimi Hospital and took finger prints and traces of footsteps to help them find the parents of the baby.
According to medical sources at the hospital, the baby was brought in serious condition. They said the boy was kept on the terrace under the sun for more than four hours.
The baby will be kept in the hospital until the police complete its investigation procedures. Later, he will be referred to the social service department for necessary care.
According to police sources, the house was being occupied by a Filipino man and woman. The man has been taken into custody and police are still searching for the mother.
