The man also faces charges of participating in riots, terrorist acts, murder attempts, armed robberies and blackmailing in India.

Brigadier Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, said the Dubai Police received a Red Corner Notice from the Interpol to extradite the wanted man to India. After verification of the information and ensuring that the suspect is living in the UAE, the Dubai Police coordinated with the Ministry of Interior to arrest the suspect.

On the instructions of Lt-Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, and Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief and Deputy Commander-in-Chief, respectively, of the Dubai

Police, after receiving the extradition documents a month ago, police teams started monitoring the places he visited.

Brig Al Mansouri said the preliminary investigation showed that the suspect entered the country in March and that he was very careful and kept moving from one place to another.

He worked as a car mechanic and lived in another emirate but visited Dubai from time to time. The police found out that he mostly lived in deserted houses and fellow Indians arranged food and money for him.

Brig Al Mansouri said a CID team arrested him subsequently and found out that the passport he carried had the same details as in the extradition documents.
