Man touches woman, 
gets jail

DUBAI - A 52-year-old businessman was sentenced to three months in jail on Wednesday for molesting a married woman, 21, while he was taking her in his car to help her with a job.

The man, an Indian, is believed to have touched the woman’s thigh and told her that he was looking for a woman as young as her.

The Court of First Instance ordered that the defendant be deported after serving his jail term. The verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days at the Court of Appeal. In the investigation, he alleged that he touched the woman as he felt she was feeling cold.

The housewife, a 21-year-old Pakistani, told the prosecutor that she rode with the defendant that morning in December last year. The defendant informed her husband that he would take her to a job interview and picked her up from her place in Muraqqabat. During the journey, he told her that nothing in life is for free. He allegedly touched her left thigh and pulled it towards him. He then told her to look into his eyes and smile.

She was scared and sent a text message to her husband who then told the defendant to drop his wife back home.

The husband, a 25-year-old jobless Pakistani, said that overheard the conversation going on between her and the accused through his wife’s mobile phone.He said he let his wife go with the defendant in his car as he had asked him to help her get a job.
