Man jailed for sexual assault in moving car in Fujairah

A man who kidnapped a woman and sexually assaulted her in a moving car was on Tuesday sentenced to three years in jail. The Fujairah Criminal Court, presided by Judge Mohammed Al Dhanhani, found T.A., a 24-year-old Asian, guilty of abducting a school cleaner with intention of raping her.

According to court records, the incident was reported in October.

The 27-year-old Asian victim works in a school in Al Qiriya locality. In her complaint, she told the police that she was standing on the Fujairah-Khor Fakkan highway, when a car pulled over beside her and its driver asked her if she wanted a lift to the school.

She got in the car and when they reached near the school, he sexually assaulted her. The victim managed to open the car’s door and jumped out of the moving vehicle.

She ran to the school and sought help from the security guards. After the police were informed, they launched a manhunt and arrested the accused.
