Man dies in high-speed crash

One person was killed and another seriously injured in two accidents over the weekend, according to Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafin, Director of the General Department of Traffic of the Dubai Police.

Around 1am on Saturday, a speeding motorist lost control over his Mercedes G 55 which deviated from the main road, hit an iron fence at the exit leading to Emirates Hills on Shaikh Zayed Road and overturned and landed outside the road. The motorist was thrown out of the vehicle under the impact and died on the spot.

The accident experts inspected the scene and the body was shifted to the forensic medicine department for an autopsy.

The other accident happened on the Hatta-Oman road in the direction of Al Aweer roundabout around 11am on Thursday. A Toyota pickup veered off the road, hit a side deck and overturned. Its seriously injured driver was shifted to Rashid Hospital but succumbed to his injuries later.
