According to the prosecution records, the jobless Emirati man threatened to explode the gas canister which he opened in one hand spreading the gas around while holding a lighter in the other.
A police corporal told the prosecutor that the incident dated back to May, when he found a Filipino man outside the defendant’s residence about 7.30am, who said the defendant had impersonated a police officer and tried to have sex with him.
The Filipino said the accused took him to his house but he managed to escape and ran to a police patrol.
The accused then threatened the cops to cause an explosion with it if they got closer to him, while police say he appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
The police officers brought the accused under control and took the gas canister away from him.
The defendant showed them medical reports that he had AIDS and hepatitis. The cops preferred to keep away from him until the arrival of the preventive medicine patrol.
Around noon on the same day, the police corporal, who was still on patrol duty, learnt about a man found passed out in a restaurant near the police station.
When he arrived, he recognised the unconscious man as the accused in the earlier case. The accused was then taken to hospital under police guard.
