The Filipino man, who works as a sales executive in Dubai, is believed to have breached the modesty of his two compatriot female roommates by fixing and hiding a camera in the ceiling of their private bathroom.
The 33-year-old woman who filed the original police complaint, told the investigating prosecutor that she grew suspicious after seeing the accused leave their bathroom. On closer inspection, she found a hidden camera in the ceiling and after checking the attached USB, found footage of both women in the shower.
The other complainant, a 32-year-old clerk, gave a similar statement in the investigation, saying it happened around midday.
She also stated that when they confronted the accused he broke down and said he was sorry but pleaded with the women not to inform anyone. Both women told his wife. When quizzed, the accused said that the women were his friends and roommates. He admitted to filming them naked in the shower with a small camera, which was seized by police.
The Criminal Evidence report showed that the two clips, filmed in January 2008, featured two naked women in the shower.
The verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days at the Court of Appeal.— mary@khaleejtimes.com
