A two-month-old baby girl was found abandoned in Al Qasimiya area behind Al Manama Supermarket in Sharjah on Sunday, a police source told Khaleej Times.
This is the fourth baby to be abandoned by parents in the emirate in less than a month. The baby girl was found wrapped in a blanket placed in a cardboard box left on the street.
A passerby contacted the police at 11.30am. A police patrol and an ambulance rushed to the spot, following which the girl was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital, where she is currently being cared for.
A source at the hospital said the baby is in a stable condition and is being provided with all necessary medical, social and feeding care available.
The police have launched a probe and are looking for the baby’s parents.
