A tour and travel firm in Abu Dhabi has accused one of its employees with 'stealing' its clients for another company that is run by his wife. The employer claimed the act caused him financial losses to the tune of Dh100,000.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance heard that the Jordanian man used his position as the salesman at the company to redirect customers to his wife's company, claiming that it offered better services.
Official court records stated that the owner of the company had filed a lawsuit against the Jordanian man after internal investigations suggested that the man had diverted hundreds of customers to the competitor firm.
Sometimes, the man also allegedly booked hotels and issued air tickets to the customers who were coming to their office on behalf of his wife's travel company. He then deposited the cash into his own account.
Ali Al Khajah, the lawyer representing the tour and travel firm, said the internal investigations conducted by the company "confirmed financial losses".
The lawyer demanded that the man pay Dh100,000 to his client for the losses that he suffered.
The Jordanian denied all accusations and termed them "baseless".
A verdict will be pronounced at a later hearing.
