According to the prosecution records, 23-year-old T.A., a Kazakh, and his compatriot accomplice aged 25, planned the robbery in advance knowing that the Kyrgyz complainant would carry the big amount of cash to her general trading office on Bani Yas Street in Naif on March 13.
The 25-year-old Kyrgyz saleswoman told the prosecutor that she took $346,000 in the morning to her workplace to pay some customers their dues. She heard knocking on the door and she recognised the voice of her friend, T.A. As she opened the door, both defendants barged in and used an electric shocker on her.
As she collapsed, T.A. locked the door and knocked her head on the floor. He then covered her mouth and tied her hands and feet with a phone wire.
They robbed the money and the woman’s mobile phone and left after locking the office door from outside. The woman could untie her feet and sought the help of a customer who knocked on the door shortly later.
The building’s security guard opened the door with a master key. A police sergeant said they received a robbery complaint on March 13. They raided A.Z’s apartment in Al Nahda after acquiring a Public Prosecution warrant. A.Z was arrested there. Most of the robbed sum was recovered.
T.A was arrested shortly later from Jumeirah Lake Towers.
His flat in Tecom area was also searched. It was learnt that T.A had planned the robbery. The two admitted to the charges during investigation.
