Discovery led experts to probe the mystery of the 40-something Neanderthal woman laid to rest in a sleeping position beneath a huge vertical stone marker
They assaulted and threatened the man, and told him make his family, in Al Ain, transfer Dh4,500 to them.
The two, including a foreman and a salesman, 26 and 35, were charged by the Court of First Instance with kidnap, illegal confinement, money extortion, threat and assault.
A police corporal said the incident was reported by the complainant’s friend who helped them arrest the accused. The police checked the CCTV footage of the company from where the complainant was taken and they recognised one of the defendants. The complainant’s friend was told to contact the accused and fool him by saying that he had got the money needed to release his friend.
The police followed him from a distance and arrested the defendant while the complainant was with him.
The other accused was also caught as he was trying to flee in a cab after the kidnap victim pointed at him. Dh 4,500 was recovered from them with the transfer receipt. The duo admitted that they kidnapped the man for cash. They denied that others had helped them. — mary@khaleejtimes.com
