The Court of First Instance heard on Thursday that the 42-year-old Indian AC technician used a large wooden stick to beat up the man until he died. The man has been charged with murder.
According to court records, the duo were hanging out in a construction site in Al Quoz over food and alcohol before a dispute broke out that angered the defendant.
"He insulted me and my wife. I got furious and went out of the room we were sitting in, brought a thick wooden stick and hit him with it several times then left the place," the defendant told the prosecutors.
After going back home, the defendant was frightened and wanted to check what happened with the victim. He told prosecutors that he got in touch with another colleague and they both headed to the site. There, the security guard told them that he found a man died at the site. The defendant told the prosecutors that he did not tell them he was behind the incident.
Forensic reports showed that internal bleeding had killed the victim after he sustained serious injuries. It also showed he was under heavy alcohol influence, which allegedly impacted his focus and reduced his ability to defend himself.
The ruling of the case will be on August 10.
