In March, the Dubai Police had foiled four drug trafficking attempts and detained seven men after their successful operations in Dubai, Fujairah and Al Ain.
The suspects included six Asians and one GCC national. The police have seized 557,000 tramadol tablets,1.66kg of heroin, 340gm of crystal meth and other drugs from the suspects.
Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, said that the drug traffickers, who aims at making money illegally, are destroying young people by providing them with psychotropic substances.
Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani Harib, director of the general department of anti-narcotics at the Dubai Police, said that three Asians were held from a gas station located in a rural area of ??Fujairah while they were refuelling their vehicle on March 19. The police got an information confirming that the accused smuggled drugs through rugged mountainous areas for sale and promotion in the country. So the police raided them and found in the trunk of their car 39,000 tramadol pills and 28,595 tablets of various narcotic substances.
The second arrest was also made on the same day in Al Ain City. The anti-narcotics team of the Dubai Police in coordination with Al Ain Police had arrested an Asian truck driver after raiding his room, where they found a bag containing 1.66kg of heroin and 298g of crystal chloride.
Colonel Eid Thani Hareb said that a third operation had been carried out on March 22. An undercover police poised as a buyer to an Asian who was found in his possession 54,975 narcotic pills, including 2,438 tramadols.
The fourth operation took place on March 31, in one of the residential areas of Dubai, in which the Arab national was arrested. The police raided his home and found 14,314 tramadol tablets, 8,890 other narcotic pills and 42g of crystal anesthetic.
During the investigation, the police found that the drugs belonged to an accused, who was undergoing his jail term in one of the emirates, for drug trafficking and promotion.
