According to statistics recently issued by the police, the number of crimes registered during the period came down by 704 this year.
Dr Khalifa Kalander, Deputy Director of Police Stations of Sharjah Police, said that the criminal reports filed in the second quarter of 2016 reached 4,137, compared to 4,841 criminal reports filed in various police stations last year.
He said that the crime rate has been reduced due to intensified efforts including awareness campaigns carried out by the police to ensure safety and security.
