Two bids to smuggle 9 million amphetamine (Captagon) pills into the Kingdom were foiled, thanks to cooperation and exchange of information with our UAE counterparts, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry was quoted as saying in an Arab News report.
The UAE authorities seized 6 million amphetamine tablets and arrested two Syrians involved in the first case, he pointed out.
Another attempt to sneak 3 million amphetamine pills into the Kingdom was busted in a joint operation carried out by Saudi and UAE authorities, the spokesman told the Arab News. As many as 11 persons, including 10 Syrians and one Saudi, were held.
Saudi border guards have foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 335kg of narcotic substances and arrested 11 smugglers in Jazan, Najran and Asir regions, the Arab News reported.
